About One Drop Zen

One Drop Zen is a global Buddhist sangha under the Japanese Zen master Shodo Harada Roshi. In 1983, Shodo Harada Roshi received inka (formal transmission) from his teacher, Yamada Mumon Roshi, and shortly after he entered the Sogenji monastery located in Okayama, Japan. He welcomed students from all around the world, and in 1989 he traveled to the first sesshin (retreat) in Washington state.

Shodo Harada Roshi has many students that have started One Drop Zendos in their own countries. As of September 2024, he has three formal dharma successors: Daichi Roshi, Taikan ShoE, and Daishin Sozui.
