Some people find that physical exercises like running or yoga can calm the body before we settle into our zazen so that our breath is gentle free and easy like a light breeze blowing through our body. Can you recommend any other exercises for keeping our abdomen flexible and easy.

Zazen is about mind and body being one - being one with the universe. When our body becomes stiff and tense, it is difficult to do good zazen. Even if we have a good energy circulation, even then the body can become tight from sitting. That is why we do Makoho exercises before zazen. (

) and try to relieve our body from any remaining tension. These exercises are very effective.
